Out of heartbreak came purpose. Oluwatoyin Community Development Initiative (OCDI) was
founded in response to this grief, driven by an unyielding resolve. We vowed: no survivor would
remain voiceless; no injustice would go unchecked.
We advocate for every survivor—be it girl, woman, boy, or man—because justice knows no gender.
We educate in markets, schools, and homes, dismantling myths around consent, equality, and human
rights. We empower survivors financially; in 2025, 30 pupils returned to school on full scholarship,
20 women are undergoing skills training, and 30 girls have been rehabilitated, with 18 equipped with
vocational tools. We engage men and boys as allies, championing a masculinity rooted in respect.
And we heal through trauma-informed counseling and legal support, partnering with law enforcement
to ensure justice and restoration

OCDI’s solution to the SGBV epidemic is comprehensive and deeply rooted in the communities we serve.

We provide crucial, direct support to survivors, ensuring their healing and reintegration:

•  Trauma-informed counseling and mental health services to address the psychological impact
  of violence.
•  Legal support and liaison with law enforcement to pursue justice and navigate complex legal
  processes.
•  Economic empowerment for self-sufficiency through skills training and micro-enterprise
  development.

We believe in preventing violence by transforming societal norms:

•  Advocacy and education in schools, markets, faith centers, and homes to raise awareness and
  shift attitudes.
• Safe spaces for adolescent girls and boys, providing secure environments for learning and
  healing.
• Male engagement programs (“Men for Equity”) that reshape harmful gender norms and
  promote accountability among men and boys.

We work to strengthen the systems that protect and support survivors:

• Training frontline responders (police, health workers, community leaders) in trauma
  informed care and SGBV law.
• Building coalitions with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and legal aid organizations to
  amplify our collective impact.
• Policy engagement at local and state levels to advocate for stronger protections and more
  equitable laws.
