Oluwatoyin Community Development Initiative (OCDI) is a grassroots organization in Nigeria,
founded in 2020, registered in 2025, and steadfastly committed to ending sexual and gender-based
violence (SGBV) and promoting gender equity in underserved communities. Starting our vital work
in Ota, Ogun State, we provide comprehensive, trauma-informed care, legal aid, educational
empowerment, and economic support to survivors—women, girls, boys, and men alike.
Simultaneously, we engage communities through advocacy, education, and cultural transformation
to address the root causes of violence.
Since our inception, OCDI has directly served over 3,000 individuals through school outreach,
community training, survivor recovery services, male engagement programs, and economic
empowerment for widows and vulnerable youth. Our vision is a world where every individual thrives
in just, inclusive, and empowered communities—free from violence and discrimination—where
every person, regardless of age, race, gender, or sexual orientation, feels safe, secure, equal, and
respected. With support from partners like DRK, we aim to scale our proven model into a replicable
framework across high-incidence regions in Nigeria, training new response teams, embedding

Impact and Tangible Results
Since our founding in 2020, we have reached over 3,000 individuals across Ogun State. Our impact is tangible: survivors have not only healed but have become peer advocates; adolescents now receive accurate education on consent and human rights; and male champions now speak up where silence once reigned.

Why Our Approach is Unique
Unlike many SGBV organizations, OCDI places equal emphasis on both healing and prevention. We invest survivors’ full reintegration—emotionally, legally, and economically—while simultaneously addressing root causes through deep, grassroots education. Our unique male-led campaigns (“Men for Equity”) directly challenge harmful masculinity at its core. We also work within existing cultural frameworks to gain local legitimacy and ensure our interventions are culturally adaptive and effective.
Key Achievements:
i. Over 150 survivors have received one-on-one psychosocial and legal support.
ii. We trained 30 male advocates in 2024 to lead anti-GBV education in 10 communities.
iii. Established 8 Safe Spaces for adolescent girls.
iv. Partnered with Community Development Associations (CDAs) and local schools to conduct
over 40 sensitization sessions.
v. In 2025, 30 pupils have returned to school on full scholarship, 20 women are undergoing
skills training, and 30 girls have been rehabilitated, with 18 equipped with vocational tools.
